It got hot this week. Like, for a day it got really hot. And humid. And uncomfortable. Partly because we still haven’t turned on the air conditioning yet. But that’s okay. I can’t help myself.
I am incapable of making my basic chocolate chip cookie recipe the same way twice. I’ve changed up the chips, added cocoa, used different flours and extracts… My family, oddly enough, has never complained.
Wow, it’s been just over a year since My Edible Journey went live. In that time I’ve learned quite a bit, enjoyed some great food and taken a lot of pictures. I never planned om having a photo blog, expecting to pick up where my previous blog left off, but with a focus solely on food. With time though, I’ve realized that there really is no getting around needing images of the recipes I’m sharing. I’m still learning that part. Me and my awesome Nikon Coolpix P510 ( an advanced point and shoot, and Christmas present to myself) have worked hard to rise to the challenge. But we still have a nemesis or two. Mothers’ Day weekend was chilly. In fact, it was downright cold on Sunday. Especially after a gorgeous lead-up, with sun and warmth and sun… And blossoms. Lots of blossoms. Every year we head to the lilac garden in Niagara Falls. It’s one of my favourite places to spend time, and it is beautiful for such a short time each year. Thankfully it was nice enough on Saturday to head out and take in the sights and amazing scents that the garden offers. Continue reading
It’s been hot lately in Southern Ontario. Like 45C with the humidity hot (that’s roughly 113 degrees American). I took a bit of the first hot pepper from the garden the other night and discovered that they they do an amazing job of storing the heat of the day within their walls. Yeowch!
In an effort to beat the heat, I decided to make ice cream. If you ask my husband, our ice cream machine is an appliance that is not used enough. I like ice cream, but not as much as he does. Continue reading
