Yes, it’s summer.  Yes, it’s traditionally hot.  And it has been.  But we’ve returned to reasonable temps, with open windows, lovely breezes and comfortable nights.  It’s not typical, which may explain my equally not typical in summer urge to fire up the oven and bake.  But I must be out of practice.

We’re not big on Valentine’s Day in our house.

Not being in school, there are no Valentine boxes to hang from desks, no cutesy cards (or glut of candy) to buy for classmates, no counting to see who got more…  My husband and I similarly haven’t ever done much to mark the occasion.  I think one year, while we were dating, I made him a huge heart shaped chocolate chip cookie.  LOL Continue reading

Simple Salad Dressing

My thumb is healing.  Still bandaged, still can’t move it a lot or pick things up properly, but it’s healing.  I’ve had to modify many activities, and think a whole lot more about my dexterity than I ever have.  But I can do more today than I could last week, so that’s good.

I’m still keeping things simple though.  No complex chopping, no elaborate meal preparation.  Unless my wonderful husband is helping, which he has been. Continue reading
