The kids and I are having popcorn for lunch today. We’re low on fresh veggies, which they usually have. Oh how I long for the days when our garden and locally grown farmers market produce feed us again. We’ve been in the depths of winter for longer than any winter I can remember in recent history. Another squall line just went through. This may be the coldest February on record in a long time. Usually by now there has been at least a slight sneak peek at spring. Not this year, where we have rejoiced at (very few) 2 and 3 degree Celsius days. Continue reading
The journey does not always go the way we want it to.
We were going to have lo mein. A favourite of the kids. I was prepping the veggies and decided, for whatever reason, to cut the core out of the cabbage. Of course, on the last cut, the knife slipped. Blood squirted across the kitchen. My shirt looked like I’d gone axe murderer on a small animal. Continue reading
