I love having interesting spices/blends in my cupboard. Za’atar is one that I use often on grilled chicken, and pita chips. I always have seasoning blends on hand for rubbing on meats for barbecuing or sprinkling on potatoes to give them some oomph. The kids and I are having popcorn for lunch today. We’re low on fresh veggies, which they usually have. Oh how I long for the days when our garden and locally grown farmers market produce feed us again. We’ve been in the depths of winter for longer than any winter I can remember in recent history. Another squall line just went through. This may be the coldest February on record in a long time. Usually by now there has been at least a slight sneak peek at spring. Not this year, where we have rejoiced at (very few) 2 and 3 degree Celsius days. Continue reading
Salted Caramel Corn
I was all set to post that autumn is in the air. Then yesterday happened. The hottest day of summer so far. After a week or so of refreshingly cool temps and a decidedly moderate summer overall. Today was equally muggy and hot, but at least there has been a breeze. We will return to reasonable weather by Friday. Continue reading
