Creamy Chive Dip with Feta and Lemon

Creamy Chive and Feta Dip with Lemon | My Edible JourneySpring has sprung

It’s that time again. The internet is going nuts over ramps. Apparently they’re delicious and In some areas they are rather controversial. I’ve never had one, nor do I recall having seen any. I suppose if I did, I’d dig one up out of curiosity. But honestly, I’m equally happy with the earliest bounty that my garden provides… Continue reading

Citrus Puffs

Citrus |My Edible Journey

It’s that time of year. When food blogs burst at the seams with recipes using all manner of citrus, especially Meyer lemons. I have my own uses for them (check out this wicked vinaigrette, or this lovely candied peel and simple syrup, perfect for cocktails, or this divine bundt cake, which doesn’t specifically call for Meyer lemons, but would be fabulous with them).

Busy Times

Various edibles | My Edible Journey

We’ve eaten well. Guacamole, crepes with honey goat cheese & strawberry sauce, Pinterest inspired hashbrowns in the waffle iron and bread experiments.

I haven’t forgotten you. Honest. We’ve been down with the sick. It’s January, after all. But in spite of the symphony of sniffles, coughs and sleepless yawns, we’ve been eating alright. I am tired of take out and junk food and scrambling at the last minute to figure out what to eat, so I have been putting in a real effort to have proper food available for us. My efforts have not been perfect, but we have managed to cut down on eating out and ordering in.

Turkey Leek Turnovers

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/a67/33126346/files/2014/12/img_7984.jpg
I’m experimenting with posting directly from my iPod. If this works, you can expect more posts that come from flashes of inspiration and life in general. I’m kind of excited. Sometimes I don’t have a recipe, or beautifully edited photos. And sometimes I just don’t have it in me to do all that a “proper” blog post requires. These savoury turkey turnovers are my first attempt at this new way. Enjoy!

Merry Christmas

Christmas Foliage

It’s Christmas Eve. I have no festive foodie post. I’ve been busy with family and friends, celebrating and preparing. There has been food. Plenty of it. From marinated olives to assorted cookies to hot cocoa and hot toddies. Right now, phase one of the stuffing is cooking before I bake up double chocolate muffins (a Christmas morning must).

I hope that you and yours are having a wonderful time, whatever you celebrate, however you observe the last of December. I’m not promising a post between now and the new year, but I’ll see what I can do.

In the meantime, blessings for a wonderful end to 2014 and an even more amazing 2015!

Cranberry Clementine Marmalade

Cranberry Clementine Marmalade | My Edible Journey

I’m not a fan of buying stuff for the sake of stuff. Gifts, no matter how small, need to have meaning. So when I got word that we were doing an exchange at a party we’re going to ($5 or less), I knew I was going to make something.

Mint Cream Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

Chocolate mint sandwich cookies | My Edible JourneyI’ll admit it. I’m starting to get my jingle on. Just a little bit. I’ve been listening to the music, and enjoying the sight of the earliest of Christmas lights against the backdrop of snow that we got walloped with last week. Continue reading

Late Autumn Recipe Roundup

While Thanksgiving is long past here in Canada already, it is just around the corner in the U.S. With my American readers in mind, and giving a nod to the creeping chill that is wrapping itself around folks in many areas, I’ve put together a compilation of a few recipes featuring seasonal foods that are abundant right now. Enjoy!
